Brazil, Rodolfo Moreno Costa Rodrigues - Medium Roast - Natural

Honeycrisp Apple - Pear Cobbler - Maple Syrup Like Body

This is the wow cup, the holy smokes that's a good cup, the oh, man, this could be a winner cup. It's original, it’s innovative, and just like the South, it's got a lot to say. Often underestimated as a large producer of lower-scoring specialty-grade coffee, Brazil has emerged in the past three years and upped its specialty coffee game. This harvest from Sitio Ponte Fazenda Ponte certainly embodies that eager spirit. Multi-layered and well-developed, this is a single-origin medium roast Brazilian coffee for those who are chasing the perfect brew.

From a small farm that’s pushing boundaries in the next generation of small lot coffees, we source naturally processed green coffee beans for increased nuance and complexity. Our in-house team of certified Q Graders carefully achieve a uniform, medium roast to draw out balanced levels of sweetness and a delicate acidity, highlighting sweet Honeycrisp apples, pear, and spiced fruits. With a rich, luxurious mouthfeel and a thick, maple syrup-like body, it brews an impeccable cup.

Historically, Brazil naturals haven't ranked high on the specialty coffee radar of must-try coffees, but this lot is a real eye opener. We aren't the only ones who think so, either. Sítio Ponte was a serious contender for the Cup of Excellence in 2022. That harvest fell just less than a point short of winning the prestigious award for best coffee in the world, and being native Georgians, we’ve seen more than a few championship teams lose out in the final quarter. Today, this small Fazenda continues to deliver some of the best quality coffee we’ve ever tasted, and every year it gets better.

This Brazil natural has something to say!

Struggling with pronunciation? You might be from around here! It’s supposed to be Sí-ti-o Pon-ti like it’s supposed to be Pohns deh Leh-ohn. But true quality needs no translation, and when it comes to premium natural-processed Brazilian coffee beans, this Sit-ee-oh Pawn-tea is it.

Natural processing involves drying the coffee cherries whole on raised beds beneath the sun. The resulting coffee is often described as having a fruity taste, with lower acidity than coffees processed using the washed method.

Caramel apple, chrysanthemum, lemon verbena, cedar, almond butter in aroma and cup. Sweetly bright structure with delicately juicy acidity; gently buoyant mouthfeel. The roundly sweet finish leads with notes of caramel apple and chrysanthemum.

Brazil has been a leader in the coffee industry for centuries, but this major coffee-producing country hasn't always been known as a hotspot for new voices and trends. Instead, their markets have been dominated by large commercial growers who have prioritized mass-produced quantity over micro lot quality. Today, small independent coffee farmers in Brazil are pushing back to redefine their place and their voice, and this lot from Sitio Ponte perfectly captures the best of what Brazil has to offer.
