Every year the judges at Coffee review rate the year’s most exciting coffees from around the world. In 2019 this Sumatra Lintong made the list taking #23 out of 30 making it one of the best coffees they have reviewed that year. While the crop year has changed the phenomenal coffee we source and roast has not. The Lintong comes from a region near South Lake Toba in Sumatra. At 1,400 to 1,550 masl, this region has the highest coffee-growing altitudes in North Sumatra. We purchase this coffee from Olam Specialty Coffee who works with six collectors that buy coffee directly from small farmers and in weekly village markets. The collectors wet hull the coffee at 28-32% moisture and then dry it in greenhouses. Once around 11-12% moisture, they run the coffee over densimetric tables before sending it to Medan for hand sorting.
